Kai Preugschat has been appointed as the Berne Union’s new secretary general.

Preugschat will assume the role during the middle of the year, moving from UniCredit where he is currently deputy global head of structured trade and export finance.

Preugschat has a distinguished career in banking and trade. He previously held senior positions at Euler Hermes, ANZ, KfW Ipex, Bayerische Landesbank and Hypo-Bank, with assignments in Germany, Asia and Australia. Preugschat also spent time working with EFIC, the Australian ECA, in Sydney.

“We are excited to get Kai on board and I look forward to working with him on advancing the Berne Union as the leading association in credit and investment insurance,” says Berne Union president Dan Riordan.

Preugschat takes over the position from Peter Jones, who retired from the firm in November last year. Since then the role has been managed by Fabrice Morel, deputy secretary general and Abbey Sturrock, assistant director.
