Barclays has appointed Brenton Booth as its London-based head of product management, trade and working capital.

Booth has significant trade finance experience, having previously held senior roles at Absa Bank, where he became head of marketing and sales and managing director for the bank’s debtor finance division, and Barclays Africa, where until recently he was head of receivables finance, based in Johannesburg.

The new role will see Booth become responsible for driving the development of Barclays’ global trade and working capital product offering.

“A key focus is to develop more efficient ways to help clients use a range of different products to deliver more complete solutions to their trade and working capital challenges,” says Booth. “This is a great opportunity to work with colleagues across Barclays’ global network to continue to deliver technology-focussed products that meet both the short-term and long-term needs of clients.”

Booth will report to head of trade and working capital at the bank, Dan Roberts. Commenting on the appointment, Roberts says: “Brenton’s deep understanding of our Africa business and of the market broadly will be a real asset as we continue to grow our global trade and working capital offering and help our clients achieve their trade objectives around the world.”
