Aspen Insurance has promoted Paul Sanders to global head of credit and political risk and Mike Toppi to global head of surety risk.

Sanders joined Aspen’s London office as head of credit and political risk in 2014. He made the move from Zurich, where he was president and regional manager UK, responsible for the London market portfolio of political risk and credit business. He also worked as a senior political risk broker at Marsh/Sedgwick.

Toppi was previously Aspen’s executive vice-president, chief surety lines underwriter. He has 25 years of experience in the surety business, including roles at Aetna Casualty & Surety Company, Hartford Insurance Group and Travelers.

Sanders and Toppi report to David Cohen, president and chief underwriting officer. “These internal appointments reflect the expertise and talent we have within Aspen Insurance as we continue to globalise our product offerings. I look forward to working with Mike and Paul, along with our other global heads, as we bring further benefits to our brokers and clients through our global platforms,” says Cohen.
