Can Sütken has been named relationship manager for the ADB’s trade finance programme, covering Indonesia, Vietnam and the Pacific.

He joins from Citi, where he held various posts in Turkey and the UK. He was most recently head of financial institutions risk distribution, covering Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Sütken will also help build the ADB’s supply chain finance programme, which GTR reported last week has been capitalised with an extra US$100mn. Vietnam is one of the nations in which the development bank is looking to partner with local players, with a view to expanding the amount of supply chain finance in the country.

He reports to Steven Beck, head of trade and supply chain finance, who says: “Can brings great experience to the team and we’re confident he will help build our business.”

The ADB’s trade finance programme provides trade finance loans and guarantees through local partner banks, disbursed within 48 hours. Last year, the business grew by 45% while growth in the first quarter of 2018 exceeded 35%.
