Cotecna, the international trade inspection group, has been appointed by the Republic of Yemen to advise on the installation and operation of scanners which will assist the country’s continuous efforts to secure its borders and to facilitate trade.

The Yemeni government purchased eight scanners for inspection operations at the maritime ports of Aden, Muckalla and Hodeida and at the land borders of Shuhan and Haradh.

The agreement, with the ministry of finance/Yemen Customs Authority (YCA), follows an international tender for consultancy services.
Cotecna has been selected by the YCA to verify conformity to the specifications by conducting factory and on-site acceptance tests of the scanners.

Cotecna will monitor the civil works of the sites and verify the correct installation of the scanners. Cotecna will also provide technical assistance and other associated services. This 18-month agreement, with possible extensions, is expected to start on May 1, 2006.
