Sue Walton of Rolls-Royce Capital will be the new chairman of the British Exporters Association (Bexa).

 

She succeeds John Tyler of Alstom, who is standing down after serving in this role for over three years.


Walton has served on Bexa’s council since 2001.


In 2003 she was elected deputy chairman. Walton joined Rolls-Royce Capital as head of structured finance and export credit in July 1997 and is an investment banker by profession.  She worked for Barclays Bank plc in its corporate finance division specialising in aircraft financing until 1989 when she joined Babcock & Brown, an investment banking firm specialising in tax-based financings for big-ticket assets.


Bexa was established in 1940. It brings together capital goods exporters, independent trading houses, banks, and credit insurers and their brokers.


The president of the association is the Rt Hon Sir Richard Needham, a former trade minister (1992 – 1995).
