Vietnam Airlines (VNA) has secured US$589mn of US Exim-backed financing from a group of international banks, for the purchase of four Boeing 787-9 aircraft.

ING Capital (New York) was the lead arranger and agent on the facility, with TD Securities acting as co-arranger. TD Bank will provide financing for three of the aircraft, while the Swedish Export Credit Corporation (SEK) is funding the remaining one.

The financing closed at the same time as the first aircraft was delivered on July 30, 2015, and represents one of the last guarantees provided by the now closed US Exim – a long-time Boeing supporter.

The remaining three aircraft are scheduled to be delivered in August, September and October.

Law firm Hogan Lovells represented VNA, Robert Wray represented US Exim, and Clifford Chance represented ING Capital, TD Bank and SEK.
