BNP Paribas and Societé Générale are lending US$250mn to Brazilian pulp and paper company Suzano Celulose.

 

The banks are lending US$150mn due in 12 years at 0.35% over Libor, while Finnvera is supplying political and commercial risk insurance covering US$120mn. Another 12-year loan amounting to US$50mn will be provided by Nordic Investment Bank (NIB).

 

BNP Paribas do Brasil and Societé Générale do Brasil committed an additional US$50mn as seven-year import financing at a cost of Libor plus 1.6% per year.

 

Suzano will use the resources to import equipment and nearly triple production at an existing plant in Brazil. Investment in the expansion totals US$1.3bn.
