Global trade management solutions provider Amber Road has acquired Global Trade Academy.

It offers over 60 courses at launch, providing training and professional development to industry professionals in the areas of customs and trade compliance, import and export management, global logistics, risk assessment and international commerce. The courses include both instructor-led in-classroom and web-based training, as well as computer-based training designed for the American, European and Chinese markets.

Representative training courses offered include: certified classification specialist (CCLS); C-TPAT: application to validation; duty drawback specialist (DBS); export control certification specialist (EXCS). Participation fees vary depending on the course.

An increasing amount of organisations have developed e-learning platforms to fill knowledge gaps and support companies in developing in-house talent. In Supply Chain World’s chief supply chain officer report 2014, 43% of the 1,000 supply chain executives surveyed noted that talent acquisition and development has become much harder.

“Global trade management is a complex and dynamic field,” says Jim Preuninger, Amber Road CEO. “Organisations require knowledgeable in-house trade professionals to understand trade regulations and implement global supply chain strategies, particularly as it relates to their specific products, processes and geographies. Our best software customers are also those who invest in talent development. By adding the Global Trade Academy to our portfolio, we can meet this need and simultaneously be a one-stop-shop for our customers.”
