Ousmane Kane has been appointed vice-president in charge of the African Development Bank Group’s corporate services. This appointment was made after due consultations with the bank’s board of directors.

Kane joined the bank in February 1991 as an industrial engineer and subsequently rose in quick succession to become head of the procurement monitoring and consulting services unit from February 1996 to August 2000, director of the human resources management department from August 2000 to November 2002 and finally director of the planning and budgeting department since November 2002.

Before joining the ADB, Kane occupied the following positions from 1982 to 1985: service head and then minerals division chief at the Soci ét é Nationale Industrielle et Mini í¨re (SNIM) of Mauritania. He was from 1985 to 1990 production director at the Soci ét é Arabe des Mines de l’Inchiri (SAMIN) in Mauritania.
