UC Rusal and HydroOGK have selected French energy company Areva to supply electrical equipment for the Boguchansk aluminium smelter. The contract is valued in excess of €90mn.
Under the terms of the agreement, Areva will produce and supply two silicon rectifier substations and a gas insulated dispenser system.
The smelter has a production capacity of 600,000 tonnes of aluminium per year once it is completed in 2011.
