Singapore lawyer Zhi Chao Chor has joined the finance practice of Stephenson Harwood as a partner.

Chor made the move this month from Pennington Manches Cooper, which he had joined in May last year. The appointment is subject to regulatory approval.

He advises lenders and sponsors on areas including structured commodity and trade finance, sustainability-linked lending, Islamic finance and syndicated financing, Stephenson Harwood said.

“There is growing demand for expertise that spans structured finance, commodities, sustainability and cross-border investment, particularly as businesses pursue growth and adapt to new market realities across Asia,” said the firm’s Singapore managing partner Daryll Ng.

“Zhi Chao’s broad experience in areas such as sustainability-linked lending, Islamic finance and innovative trade finance structures will provide invaluable support to our clients as they look to achieve their ambitions in this evolving market.”

Prior to joining Penningtons, Chor was a partner at WongPartnership for seven months and a partner at Rajah & Tann from April 2017 to August 2024, according to his LinkedIn profile.
