HDI Global appoints Shinkman to lead new US credit and political risk business

HDI Global has appointed Amy Shinkman as US credit and political risk lead, as the specialty insurer builds out its presence in the American market.

Based in Washington, DC, Shinkman will lead the development of HDI Global’s CPRI business in the US, working with multilateral institutions, financial institutions, public sector bodies and broker partners.

She brings 25 years of experience in global credit and political risk underwriting to the role, most recently HDI Global has appointed Amy Shinkman as US credit and political risk lead, as the specialty insurer builds out its presence in the American market..

She has also held credit and political risk roles at AIG and Atradius, based in both London and Singapore.

The role is a newly created position as part of HDI’s broader push into the US market, with Shadi Albert also recently named regional chief executive.

Shinkman will report to Bevan Greibesland – who has also been newly appointed as chief underwriting officer for specialty lines at HDI Global US, overseeing the expansion of CPRI and other product lines such as aviation, surety and mining – as well as to Nick Robinson, global head of credit and political risk, who is based in London.

Robinson said “adding Amy’s wealth of experience as our US Lead demonstrates our commitment to the US CPRI market” and that “we will continue to build Amy’s team as the portfolio grows”.

The insurer has underwritten credit and political risk business since 2020, building out teams in London, Singapore and Stockholm.

The US expansion is “the natural next step, with a local team to service US-based clients in the growing credit and political risk hub of Washington, DC”, HDI Global told GTR.
