Kai Preugschat is to leave his post as secretary general of the Berne Union to join the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

Later this month, he will move to Manila to become the ADB’s head of co-financing operations.

The department is set for a much higher profile, with the ADB already embarking on a series of well-publicised co-financed deals with the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).

The Berne Union is currently accepting applications for a successor to Preugschat, who has been in the role since August 2014. He joined from UniCredit, where he worked as head of origination for export finance in Munich, from 2011 to 2014.

Upon announcing his departure, a statement from the Berne Union said: “The president and management committee extend their thanks to Kai for his contribution to the Berne Union and wish him all the best in his future endeavours.”
