Former WTO deputy director general Alejandro Jara has joined international law firm King & Spalding.

He has been appointed senior counsel in the WTO and international trade practice at the firm’s office in Geneva.
According to a release issued by King & Spalding, the move is in line with the firm’s plan to “expand its international trade policy capabilities and its global disputes group”.

Jara’s career has covered a wide range of regional and multilateral trade policy posts, including a stint with Chile’s Foreign Service.

Daniel Crosby, managing partner of King & Spalding’s Geneva office, comments on the hire: “Alejandro’s substantial WTO expertise, his unique experience in the global trading system and the broad scope of his knowledge of trade and investment issues further strengths our international trade team.”
