Standard Chartered has appointed Michael Vrontamitis as its new head of trade, product management.

Vrontamitis has been with the bank for 19 years, and was previously head of product, Greater China and Northeast Asia, where he oversaw transaction banking product management covering trade finance, cash management and security services. Over the past five years, he has helped develop Standard Chartered’s renminbi (Rmb) capabilities.

In the new role, Vrontamitis will be responsible for delivering trade finance capabilities in documentary trade, receivables services and supply chain finance. He will also direct the bank’s global trade finance P&L (profit and loss) strategy.

Commenting on his new role, Vrontamitis says: “With the emerging markets accounting for half of global trade and the increasing importance of global supply chains, I am excited about the vast opportunities across our footprint to further grow our business and support our clients.”

Vrontamitis will be based in Hong Kong and will report to global head, product management, transaction banking, George Nast.
“Michael’s experience and knowledge of our markets and clients will be key in driving our business momentum, as well as ensure that we continue to provide solutions to help clients navigate the complexities across their trade needs and cross border supply chains,” says Nast.
