Pedro Fernández de Santaella has joined UniCredit corporate and investment banking as head of Iberia, responsible for Spanish and Portuguese clients.

He is based in Madrid and reports to Gianfranco Bisagni, deputy head of corporate and investment banking. Bisagni explains that the role is a “perfect fit” for de Santaella as he is familiar with many of the CEOs and CFOs of Iberian public entities, corporates and financial institutions.

“We are delighted to welcome Pedro to UniCredit where he will make a positive contribution to our coverage in line with our international ambitions. We already have an important client base in Iberia that has been successfully served by our Vienna and Munich-based colleagues. We are now further improving the service we provide to Spanish and Portuguese clients by appointing a locally-based senior manager,” adds Gianni Papa, the bank’s deputy general manager and head of corporate and investment banking.

De Santaella makes the move to the bank from Barclays, where he has worked since 1999 as head of investment banking for Spain. He has previously held positions at Citi, Chase Investment Bank and Bankers Trust.
