Gianfranco Bisagni has been appointed as UniCredit’s deputy head of corporate investment banking (CIB) and executive committee member. In his new role, Bisagni will also oversee the Global Transaction Banking (GTB) product line.

He takes on direct responsibility for the commercial activities of the bank’s enlarged CIB international network, working alongside the other deputy head, Olivier Khayat (who will oversee financing and advisory as well as markets and research product lines).

The enlarged CIB network will cover new as well as existing geographies, comprising the bank’s operations in the Americas, Asia Pacific and Mena as well as all branches, representative offices and activities around the world.

He started his new role on April 1. Bisagni reports to Gianni Franco Papa, head of the CIB division and deputy general manager of UniCredit.  Commenting on the changes, Papa says: “Our new set-up will allow us to give more focus to international business development while continuing to expand our investment banking product capabilities to optimise the financing needs of our clients, including mid-tier corporates which have increasing access to capital markets and operate globally. I am delighted to have Gianfranco joining the CIB division.”

Bisagni’s international experience within the UniCredit network is reflected in its past positions in Italy, the US, China, Romania, and, most recently, Austria, where he was head of Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) corporate investment banking and deputy head of the CEE division.
