UK Export Finance (UKEF), the UK’s export credit agency, has hired Diego Folino as country head for Mexico.

Folino has taken up office at the British Embassy in Mexico City for his newly-created role.

Prior to his new appointment, Folino worked as deputy CEO at Bank of China and president and country CEO at BNY Mellon. He has also held senior roles at Standard Chartered and Bank of America.

Folino founded his own business consultancy firm, Tinto Capital, in 2010, where he will continue to provide advisory services.

At UKEF, Folino will report to Michele Dee, regional head for Latin America and other geographies.

The appointment forms part of UKEF’s 2020 wider strategy to place in-market experts across its priority markets. The network will focus on seeking, securing and supporting overseas opportunities for UK exporters.
