XL Group has made two political risk appointments in New York.

Mena Cammett joins as a senior risk analyst, while Dane Mahoney joins as a risk analyst. Both will report to Rafael Docavo-Malvezzi, global risk manager in the company’s political risk and trade credit (PRTC) business.

Cammett joins from PwC in Washington DC, where she was an associate, anti-corruption and corporate intelligence. Previous to this, she worked for ERGO Emerging Markets Business Intelligence in New York, Global Trade Matters in Cairo and the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (Opic) in Washington DC.

Mahoney previously worked in the Asia Pacific and Latin American research departments at the Institute of International Finance (IFF) in Washington DC.

Speaking of the appointments, Richard Maxwell, XL’s global head of PRTC, says: “Our success in writing political and trade credit insurance rests on our ability to know and understand them. Mena and Dane bring considerable research and international business experiences, along with analytical and investigative skills that will help us analyse our clients’ risks in new and emerging markets and support our underwriting units in New York, London and Singapore as we craft the right insurance coverage to help our clients take on new business opportunities.”
