KBC Bank has recruited David Tilley to head its Global Trade Finance (GTF) Group based in London. Tilley has taken over the position vacated by Paul Maxwell who left the bank in September last year.

Tilley appeared back on the banking scene last summer, joining Fortis Bank as deputy director within the structured commodity finance (SCF) division with responsibility for Africa, reporting to Carl Shipman.

He brings to KBC a depth of experience in commodities and trade finance, claims KBC. Previously, he spent 16 years in banking as an export credit and trade finance specialist before moving into commodity trading firms Phibro Salomon and Marc Rich.

After building up a trade finance desk at Phibro he moved on to head up the trading unit’s treasury and finance group in London before moving to Marc Rich where he became the CFO of commodity trading activity.
