Global law firm Stephenson Harwood has appointed Don Brown as a partner in its London office.

Brown moves from Ashurst where he worked as a legal counsel. Prior to this, he held senior roles at GE Capital and legal services group Gateley, where he focused on specialty finance, asset-based lending and receivables finance, advising both lenders and borrowers on bilateral and syndicated financings, refinancings and restructurings.

He joins the firm this week and reports to Tammy Samuel, head of finance at Stephenson Harwood.

“One of my focuses will be developing and building Stephenson Harwood’s asset-based lending practice, this includes financing trade receivables but also financing other assets such as inventory and equipment,” Brown tells GTR. “The other areas that I will concentrate on are specialty finance and asset finance, I will be working closely with the firm’s existing asset finance team. I’m delighted to have joined Stephenson Harwood to boost the firm in these areas.”

The law firm has hired finance focused partners in Paris and Dubai recently, Jeremy Grant joined in October and Nicholas Robinson moved to the firm in April, respectively.
