Société Générale has appointed Olivier Musset as global head of the energy group within the bank’s natural resources and energy financing business.

Based in Paris, Musset will start his new role on April 15, 2013, managing advisory services as well as project, reserve-based and structured financings in the energy sector. He will report to Federico Turégano, global head of the bank’s natural resources and energy financing group.

He was previously deputy global head of the energy group, and takes over the global head post from Robin Baker, who will remain within the energy group on a part-time basis.

Musset joined Société Générale in 1993 from Technip, where he worked as process engineer for the refining and petrochemical industries. Before moving on to the bank’s oil and gas project finance in 1997, he worked as an in-house consultant advising on all business aspects related to the oil and gas industry.
