Société Générale has created a new energy team based in Dubai to cover business across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region, covering activities in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Oman.

David Hodson has been appointed as managing director and head of energy for the GCC area. He will be reporting to both Robin Baker, global head of energy project finance and to Aditya Srivastava, head of corporates, institutions and advisory division in Dubai.

Jean-Pascal Peltier has been appointed vice-president, and will be reporting directly to Hodson, helping him develop the bank’s project finance activities with energy clients in the Middle East.

Hodson has established a long-standing career in financing and developing international energy projects. He was director of project finance, oil and gas group until late 2003, after which he became an independent financial advisor and project development consultant.

Peltier joined SG in 1999 in the equity derivatives information technology team.
