Société Générale Corporate & Investment Banking (SG CIB) has appointed Andreas Remmer as director in the shipping finance Asia-Pacific team within the Asset Finance Group. Based in Hong Kong, Remmer will report to Logan Chong, head of shipping finance, Asia-Pacific.

SG CIB is a leading global player in structured finance. Its shipping finance franchise specialises in providing structured and value-added vessel finance solutions to its shipping clients worldwide, the bank claims. It is already well developed in China, Korea and Japan and is further expanding in Southeast Asia and Australia.

In his new role, Remmer will focus on Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, India and Australia. .

Commenting on his joining, Chong comments: “We are delighted to have Andreas in the team. The hiring of a proven originator such as Andreas underlines SG CIB’s desire to strengthen shipping finance business in Asia-Pacific and will further enhance our ability to offer landmark, tailormade solutions to our clients for their vessel financing needs.”

Remmer joins from Nordea Bank in Singapore where he was a relationship manager responsible for shipping, offshore and oil services clients based in Japan, Korea, Singapore and India.

Before that, Remmer had been an in-house lawyer of Bank of Aland in Mariehamn, Finland.
