Law firm Reed Smith has launched an expanded energy and natural resources group to respond to what the firm says are important drivers of the global economy.

The group will consist of 100 lawyers deployed globally and will be multidisciplinary, offering regulatory, transactional and litigation services.

Both traditional and newer green energy sources will be under the group’s remit.

The group will be headed up by Kyri Evagora in London and Ellen Bastier in San Francisco.

“In the past five years, we have closed a significant number of renewable energy transactions,” says Bastier.

“Yet what we are seeing is that the drive for renewable energy is not just attracting those who have traditionally been in the sector but those historically outside as well, because of the significant economy advantages and tax incentives. “
