Carl Shipman has taken over as director and head of structured commodity finance at Fortis Bank. He will be responsible for the commercial development of Fortis “structured commodity activities and will be based in the London branch. Shipman has worked with Fortis since 2001, responsible for the CIS and Eastern European structured business. He joined from Refco Overseas where he headed the commodity finance business.

With a broad experience in both structured and corporate finance, derivatives, and credit gained at Standard Bank, Sumitomo and CIBC, Shipman will bring a renewed vigour to the existing team and lead the further expansion of the product and client base in emerging markets. He has succeeded Willem Klaassens who left Fortis in March.
