US Ex-Im Bank has announced the appointment of Michael Petrucelli as senior vice-president for operations and chief of staff.

Petrucelli will be a focal point of Ex-Im efforts to become more responsive to customers. His appointment is part of recent overall organisational changes designed to make Ex-Im more customer driven and market focused.

“Michael’s excellent contributions at Ex-Im Bank and his extensive public and private sector experience make him an ideal candidate to exercise leadership in the Bank’s effort to better serve U.S. exporters,” says Ex-Im Bank vice-chairman Eduardo Aguirre.

Petrucelli will design and implement performance measures for the bank’s operational divisions, and coordinate activities among and across operational divisions in support of bank-wide performance goals. He will be responsible for developing measures to increase Ex-Im Bank’s productivity and to shorten the cycle time in providing loans, guarantees and insurance to customers.

Petrucelli previously was Ex-Im vice-president and chief of staff. Before joining Ex-Im Bank, he was executive director of the US-Thailand Business Council, encouraging trade between the two countries. Before that he was director for Thailand, Burma and financial services at the US-Asean Business Council, promoting US-Asia trade relations.

As a US State Department Foreign Service officer from 1991 to 1996, Petrucelli was assigned to the US Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand, the Bureau of Intelligence & Research in Washington, DC, and the US Consulate General, Netherlands Antilles.
