Former Novae underwriter Nicola Marriage has joined Markel as a senior underwriter in its trade credit division.

Her focus will be on further expansion of the division’s product portfolio, specifically contract frustration, structured trade credit and political risk offerings.

“Her appointment means that the team will have a physical presence in Lloyd’s with the division utilising both Lloyd’s and company underwriting platforms,” says a statement issued by the firm.

Marriage previously worked at Novae for eight years as class underwriter, writing a broad portfolio of credit and political risks. She has also held positions at CIFS and Coface, and started her career as a graduate trainee at Euler Trade Indemnity.

Ewa Rose, managing director of trade credit, comments on the hire: “The development of our contract frustration and political risk business is a natural extension of our offering and gives us a broad product range, which we are looking to expand in the coming months. It will also increase our contact with a broader range of brokers across the market.”
