The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has named Jean-Patrick Marquet director for Turkey.

Based in Istanbul, Marquet succeeds Michael Davey, who retired in late February after 20 years at the bank.

Marquet was previously EBRD director for municipal and environmental infrastructure. He joined the bank in 2001, before which he worked at French bank Crédit Lyonnais.

In his new position, he leads EBRD operations in Turkey, focusing on sustainable energy and infrastructure, as well as promoting investments that can increase Turkish companies’ competitiveness, grow capital and local currency markets, and “foster inclusion to support the country’s long-term growth potential”, according to an EBRD statement.

The EBRD currently has three offices in Turkey, in Istanbul, Ankara and Gaziantep. The country became the bank’s leading recipient in 2014, with new investments worth €1.4bn.
