Standard Chartered is establishing a new team to spearhead the development of its project finance business globally. Complementing the bank’s existing strengths in corporate finance and debt capital markets, this team will aim to enhance Standard Chartered’s ability to offer a broader range of solutions to its clients.

In line with this development, Standard Chartered has taken on William Rathvon as global head of project and export finance. Rathvon joins from Banc of America Securities, where he was most recently managing director in the energy investment banking group responsible for providing M&A and capital raising services to clients engaged in the oil and gas, refining and petrochemical sectors.

Rathvon has more than 15 years of investment banking and project finance experience, having been involved in a wide variety of capital raising and advisory transactions across Asia, Americas, Europe and the Middle East.

Based in Singapore, he reports to V Shankar, Standard Chartered’s group head of corporate finance.

Shankar comments: “The creation of a project finance team is in line with our strategy to expand on the range of financing solutions that we can offer clients across our markets. William will play an important role in developing our project finance business and integrating it with our strong structured export finance capabilities globally.”
