The Bank of New York has appointed Gerard Sheridan, managing director, as head of Asia payments and trade services sales. Based in Hong Kong, Sheridan will have responsibility for managing and growing the bank’s Asia payment and trade finance businesses.

He will report to David Cruikshank, head of international payments and trade services for the bank.

Sheridan joined Bank of New York in 1981 after completing a tour of duty as an officer in the United States Marine Corps. His 25-year career at the bank has included key senior-level assignments in operations, technology and product management.

Cruikshank comments: “The Bank of New York has built a strong franchise with attractive opportunities for growth in our payment and trade finance activities across Asia. Jerry brings an impressive understanding of what today’s clients demand in this area.  His appointment is an important step in the implementation of our growth strategies and is a clear sign of our commitment to the transaction banking business globally.”
