The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) has appointed Gwen Mwaba as its new director of trade finance.

She replaces Kanayo Awani, who has been appointed managing director of the Intra-African Trade Initiative.

Mwaba was previously the bank’s regional manager for anglophone West Africa and head of the Abuja branch office since May 2015.

Originally from Zambia, she joined Afreximbank from Standard Bank, where she worked as executive vice-president, structured trade finance and syndications for Africa, based in London.

Her experience also includes positions at Stanbic Bank Zambia, Standard Bank of South Africa and the African Banking Corporation.
