The Export-Import Bank of Malaysia (Malaysia Exim) has named Datuk Feizal Mustapha as its new chairman.

He succeeds Datuk Mat Noor Nawi, who retired on September 30, having held the role since 2015.

Mustapha brings more than 25 years of experience in Malaysia’s capital markets, covering a multitude of areas through his various management capacities and leadership roles.

Prior to joining Malaysia Exim, Mustapha was executive director, advisory at BDO Malaysia from 2012 and became chairman in 2015. He remains a director of the firm.

Before that he served with the Securities Commission Malaysia for 19 years in various roles, including regulatory oversight and overall market development.

Mustapha was also recently appointed as chairman of Widad Group Berhad, a publicly listed investment holding company.

In a statement on the hire, the bank says: “Malaysia Exim welcomes the appointment of Datuk Feizal Mustapha as the new chairman. With his vast experience in the corporate finance and advisory fields, his appointment is timely to continue to steer the bank to greater heights.”
