Chris Mitchell, formerly head of UK derivatives marketing at AIG Financial Products, has been appointed director, head of global FI solutions at Lloyds TSB Financial Markets.

The appointment will allow Lloyds TSB Financial Markets to increase structured derivative sales to its global financial institutions client base, leveraging Mitchell’s experience in working for an Aaa-rated platform and to develop further the Lloyds TSB offering in the pension space.

“Lloyds TSB Financial Markets is developing an unrivalled momentum in structured sales, which is reflected in expanding relationships with financial institutions,” says Mitchell. “It’s exciting to join a business whose eyes are fixed so firmly on the future.”

Mitchell will expand the existing FI sales team and report directly to Clare Francis, another recent appointment as managing director for sales having joined Lloyds TSB in February 2006.

Before his time at AIG, Mitchell headed up derivative marketing to UK corporates at Morgan Stanley, having begun his career at NatWest Capital Markets and Greenwich NatWest.

The appointment is part of a sustained recruitment drive that has seen the sales forces at the Financial Markets division more than double over the past 18 months – reflecting the business unit’s key role in Lloyds TSB’s well-received overhaul of its corporate markets offering.
