JP Morgan has appointed Thawee Poonlapmongkol as its head of treasury services for Thailand. Based in Bangkok, he will report to Christine Tan, head of treasury services for Asean, and Chayotid Kridakon, senior country officer for Thailand. He replaces Rohit Godara, who has moved to New York to take on another role within treasury services.

Poonlapmongkol joins the bank following almost four years at Siam Commercial Bank, where he was head of transaction banking solutions. Prior to that, he was head of corporate sales for global transaction services at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in Thailand.

Drawing on more than 17 years of experience across sales management and business development in transaction banking, Poonlapmongkol will manage and drive JP Morgan’s treasury services business in Thailand, with a focus on prioritising innovation to support clients as the wholesale payments business becomes increasingly digitalised.

Speaking about Poonlapmongkol’s appointment, Kridakon says: “Thailand’s economy continues to demonstrate strength but macro uncertainties mean companies need to become increasingly strategic in how they take advantage of the opportunities on offer as they expand their businesses in an increasingly competitive environment. We are excited about the value Thawee will bring to clients.”

“Thawee has extensive experience in transaction banking and we are pleased he has joined the team at JP Morgan,” adds Tan. “With his deep knowledge of the Thai market and clear understanding of treasury needs, we are confident he will be able to support our clients across financial institutions, local corporations and multinational firms. We look forward to Thawee’s leadership in enhancing our clients’ experience through our innovative solutions such as virtual branches.”
