Doug Caldwell has been appointed as ING’s chief risk officer (CRO), insurance Eurasia.

He will also become a member of the management board insurance Eurasia (MBE). Caldwell will be responsible for all operational and business-related aspects of risk management for the region.

Caldwell will report into CEO Jan Hommen. A spokesperson for ING tells GTR: “We are preparing our European insurance and investment management operations for a standalone future with the base case of an IPO.” Caldwell’s appointment completes the MBE team.

He joined ING in 1999 and his roles since then have included vice-president for financial reporting and control for ING Re Individual Life, head of ING Group corporate insurance risk management in Amsterdam, head of asset liability and capital management and chief risk officer for ING Insurance.
