IFC Asset Management Company (AMC) has hired veteran lawyer George Springsteen as head of legal.

Springsteen will have overall responsibility for legal matters relating to AMC and the funds that it manages.

He has more than 25 years’ legal experience, with almost 15 of those spent with IFC as a senior lawyer, most recently acting as lead relationship counsel for IFC’s global manufacturing and services department.

Springsteen has worked on a number of significant IFC initiatives, having recently acted as chief lawyer involved in setting up the US$3bn AMC-managed IFC capitalisation fund for emerging market banks.

Gavin Wilson, chief executive officer of AMC, says: “George brings enormous legal experience to our business, including very substantial private equity and transactional experience in emerging markets. He has played an important role in the establishment of AMC and I am delighted he is now joining us fulltime.”

AMC is designed to offer outside investors the opportunity to become involved in IFC’s direct investments in emerging markets.
