Law firm HFW has hired project finance partner Andrew Thomas to its global energy practice. He joins the firm’s London office from Hunton Andrews Kurth.

Thomas has almost three decades of projects experience, advising international energy companies, financial institutions and governments on project financings across sectors including energy, oil and gas, transport and infrastructure. He has acted on more than 30 major and long-running projects in 16 countries across the globe, with significant experience in Southeast Asia. He also has a broad banking and finance practice.

Thomas’ arrival continues a period of sustained international expansion for HFW. He is the third partner to join HFW in the past seven days, following the arrival of corporate and finance partners Vince Gordon and Tania de Swart from Reed Smith at HFW’s new office in Abu Dhabi at the beginning of October.

His hire also comes two weeks after fellow energy partner Derek Anchondo, an oil and gas and energy transactions specialist, joined HFW from Greenberg Traurig in Houston.

HFW’s global energy practice now has 33 partners and more than 100 lawyers in 20 international offices. Energy is one of the firm’s six core sectors, alongside aerospace, commodities, construction, insurance and shipping.
