Global working capital finance provider Greensill has hired Tony Wonfor as managing director for Emea origination in London.

Wonfor joins Greensill following eight years at Huawei, where his most recent position was as executive director of its overseas finance centre in London. He previously spent two decades as a banker, working at BNP Paribas Fortis, Fortis Bank, Mizuho and HSBC in a variety of corporate and institutional banking roles, including within telecoms.

“Tony is a brilliant addition to the Greensill team, adding great strength to our efforts in the global telecoms arena and beyond,” says Myrjam Tschoeke, head of Emea origination. “Greensill has made great strides in offering working capital solutions to clients across the global telecoms sector in recent years, and we look forward to adding Tony’s expertise to the fold.”

His appointment is the latest in Greensill’s global expansion that has most recently seen new offices open up in Singapore, São Paulo and Johannesburg.

The firm aims to hire another 100 specialists by the end of 2019, taking Greensill’s headcount to 390 worldwide.

“As we seek new ways to unlock capital so our clients can put it to work, so we seek those special people who know exactly how changing finance can change the world,” says Lex Greensill, founder and CEO.

The company has extended US$50bn of financing to a pool of 1.7 million suppliers in 60 countries in the seven years since inception.
