First Bank of Nigeria has appointed Tosin Adewuyi as its group executive and executive director of its flagship subsidiary, FBN Bank UK.

Adewuyi has over 18 years of experience as an international banker covering Sub-Saharan Africa, with 10 of those spent in senior roles. He joins the bank from JP Morgan, where he was senior country officer for Nigeria, and before that, head of trade finance, Africa. He has also held positions at Standard Bank and KPMG.

Paul Cardoen, CEO of FBN Bank UK, comments on the hire: “Mr Adewuyi’s appointment is consistent with the bank’s strong corporate governance credentials and best practice, ensuring that our Africa strategy is executed by senior bankers with the right balance of knowledge, judgment and experience.”

Cardoen adds that Adewuyi will be a member of the executive management committee and be responsible for driving FBN’s businesses: corporate banking, institutional banking and private banking.

The appointment is subject to approval from the appropriate regulatory bodies in Nigeria and the UK.
