Alternative trade finance lender Falcon Group has launched a second Australian office in Perth.

Building on its presence in Sydney, which was established last year, the additional branch in Australia’s mining heartland will service the extractive industry. The group says that it is targeting mid-market clients in the Western Australian region.

The office will be led by Steven Webb, who joins from Deutsche Bank, where he was most recently director of corporate banking coverage. He will report to Paul Mitchell, head of Australia and New Zealand and joins as business development director for Western Australia, South Australia and Northern Territory.

Webb joined Deutsche Bank in Dubai in April 2015, before which he held a variety of corporate banking roles at RBS.

Mitchell describes the mining sector as “long cycle” and “capital intensive”, saying that the company has “observed strong demand for asset backed solutions that are tailored to the mine cycle”.
