Bernard Zonneveld, global head of structured metals and energy finance (SMEF) at ING is leaving the bank at the end of the month, GTR can reveal.

As a prerequisite of his new position (which he will begin at the end of June) he will be on gardening leave as of May 1. GTR will be able to share details of his new role in the coming weeks.

A stalwart of the structured commodity finance market, Zonneveld has headed a team at ING that has had a leading role in emerging market metals and energy finance.

Before taking on the position of global head of SMEF, he was the bank’s global co-head of commodities, responsible for the structured commodity finance business on a global scale and trade and commodity finance activities in Europe, the Middle East and Africa

Zonneveld joined ING 23 years ago. He previously held positions at ABN Amro and Bank Mees & Hope.
