Sumit Aggarwal has left Standard Chartered to join Emirates NBD as executive vice-president, head of transaction banking services.

Based in Dubai, he will be managing the bank’s entire transaction banking services business, which include functions such as transaction banking products, sales and implementation. He will report to Jonathan Morris, senior executive vice-president and head of wholesale banking.

Aggarwal joins with 28 years of experience in Asia, Europe and Africa, where he has specialised in product management and business development of transaction banking services.

He first joined Standard Chartered in 1990 and left for ABN Amro in 2003, before re-joining Standard Chartered four years later. He was most recently the bank’s regional head of transaction banking for South East and South Asia based out of Singapore.

Aggarwal replaces Samir Sahu, who has moved to a new role as Emirates NBD’s COO for wholesale banking.
