The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) has appointed Idrissa Diop as its new director of compliance.

Diop joins from Ecobank, where he was group head of compliance, based out of Togo.

At Afreximbank in Cairo, he replaces Maureen Mba, who retired in May. Mba had been named Afreximbank’s director of compliance in February, when the bank upgraded its compliance function to a full department.

Diop has 20 years of experience at various European financial institutions and the Ecobank Group, which he joined in June 2011. Before Ecobank he worked for 10 years in Luxembourg, holding senior compliance manager positions at two asset management firms, Schroders and Amundi. He was also a senior internal auditor specialising in dealing room activities at Société Générale, and a senior internal auditor at Banque CIC Est.
