Bart Veldhuizen has joined the board of managing directors of DVB Bank, taking on responsibility for the shipping finance and offshore finance divisions.

He joins from Swaen Marine, a London-based shipping industry advisory firm he founded and owned.

He previously worked as managing director and global head of shipping at Lloyds, where he was responsible for origination, structuring and loan portfolio management of the bank’s global shipping finance business. He also held a position at The Netherlands’ NIBC Bank, where he was responsible for financings in the shipping and energy sectors.

“With Bart Veldhuizen’s appointment to the board of managing directors, the bank has taken the required steps to safeguard continuity in its top management team, its focus on growing profitability, and securing the bank’s leading market position in the global transportation industry,” DVB says in a statement.

Ralf Bedranowsky, the current shipping and offshore finance MD, will now assume responsibility for DVB’s risk management, amongst other tasks. He will also succeed Wolfgang Driese as CEO and chairman of the board of managing directors from July 1, 2015. Driese is set to retire from the bank on June 30, 2015.
