Hu Xiaolian, a senior Chinese government official, has been named chairwoman and Communist Party chief of policy at the Export-Import Bank of China.

Hu retains her role as deputy government of the People’s Bank of China (PBOC) – the central bank, based in Beijing.

She has been with the PBOC since 2004, when she joined as assistant governor and her move follows the appointment of the former chairman of the Bank of Shanghai, Fan Yifei, to the PBOC’s Communist Party committee.

China Exim was founded in 1994 and assists Chinese companies in their offshore contract projects and outbound investment. Along with Sinosure and the China Development Bank, China Exim has been instrumental in the country’s growing influence around the world.
