Following the recent appointment of Mark Drummond Brady to the position of chairman of insurance broker JLT Risk Solutions, Nick Hedley has been appointed managing director of the financial risk division. This encompasses credit and political risks, financial and professional risks, accident and health, and sports and entertainment.

Nick Robson has been appointed business unit head for credit and political and Matt Strong has been appointed deputy head.

Robson will continue the policy of active investment in the credit and political risk field that has characterised the firm’s business in recent years.

In March 2006 JLT welcomed Danny Oades to the team as a partner. Oades has more than 15 years experience in the credit and political risk market and JLT was able to add his wide ranging skills and expertise to that of the existing team.

At the same time Toby Childs was promoted to partner “in recognition of his experience, commitment, technical expertise and unparalleled effectiveness in the market”.

Also in 2006 JLT welcomed Elizabeth Stephens to the team. Stephens has primarily an academic background with a PhD in international relations from the London School of Economics. “She is one of several key individuals who are jointly building our consultancy practice in credit and political risk which involves, inter alia, project risk analysis, country portfolio reviews and portfolio risk modelling for both trade and investment portfolios,” reports the firm.

JLT is in the process of recruiting further individuals to the team and will be making further announcements later in the year.
