Byblos Bank Europe has named Peter Grevendonk as its head of financial institutions (FI) and trade finance, a new role for the bank.

Grevendonk has over 15 years of experience in institutional sales and trade and structured finance. He was previously head of financial institutions, Africa at ING from 2011 to 2017, and before that worked at ABN Amro and Fortis Bank. He recently returned from a sabbatical and has moved from Amsterdam to Byblos Bank’s Europe headquarters in Brussels to take up the new position.

Byblos Bank Europe specialises in short-term trade finance operations for selected exporting companies in Europe and Lebanese businesses in emerging markets, and offers business banking services in the Middle East and North Africa.

Grevendonk’s remit will be to head up the FI and front-office trade finance efforts for Brussels, as well as London and Paris, the bank’s other European branches.

Speaking to GTR, he says: “The bank is very geared to its trade finance activities. The idea is to further grow activities and to diversify the coverage.”
