Melina Concha has been named executive vice-president, head of global corporate banking in the Manila branch of the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ (BTMU).

Concha joins the bank from HSBC, where she was most recently the country head for commercial banking in the Philippines. Among her areas of experience are bond arranging, equity finance, project finance and M&A advisory. She worked for HSBC for more than 20 years.

The role is newly-created, and she will report to the Manila branch’s general manager Tadahiro Miyamoto and the Asia Pacific head of global corporate banking, Yoshitake Manabe.

The bank says in a statement that her appointment stems from a desire to have an experienced corporate banker in the Philippines.

Miyamoto says: “Over the recent years, we have started to deepen our presence and network with many local and regional corporates. We expect to grow our global corporate banking business here in the Philippines and in the region. Given her depth of experience, Concha is ideally placed to lead our global corporate banking team in the Philippines and drive the business to the next stage of our development.”
